Grinham – who made headlines around the world when she became the first pregnant women to win a Paralympic medal – spoke of overcoming a difficult year before she won gold and bronze in para-archery this summer.

Hannah Mills described Athena Pathway’s opening win at the PUIG Women’s America’s Cup as “an epic day.” Wales’ double Olympic sailing champion captained her British team to success as they kicked off the history-making event with a race win off the coast of Barcelona.

Patrick Mosin and Miriam Chebet completed a Kenyan clean-sweep at the 2024 Principality Cardiff Half Marathon. The 24-year-old Mosin surged away from 2023 champion Vincent Mutai to take the men’s title before his compatriot Chebet smashed her personal best to claim the women’s first place at the biggest Cardiff Half yet. It was a family affair in the wheelchair race as husband and wife Callum and Jade Hall battled it out across the streets of Cardiff.

Matthew Maynard has spoken of his pride and emotion after receiving the Professional Cricketers’ Association Outstanding Contribution Award at the cinch PCA Awards. The former England and Glamorgan player accepted the prestigious prize following a standing ovation of appreciation from everyone in attendance at the Troxy in East London.

Sam Northeast has been hailed as Glamorgan’s matchwinner after the batsman’s vital contribution ensured the county lifted the Metro Bank One-Day Cup. Northeast hit 63 not out as Glamorgan beat Somerset in the final at Trent Bridge to lift the trophy for the second time in four years.

Golfers from across Wales picked up prizes as Wales Golf Finals Week, held at Holyhead Golf Club in North Wales, proved to be a celebration of the sport. “Finals Week is one of the most rewarding of the year, as players from different clubs and levels all come together for the culmination of a series of events,” explained Wales Golf competitions manager, Daniel Fullager.

Sam Northeast has admitted Glamorgan were flattened by a “freight train” after promotion-chasing Sussex closed in on a return to Division One of the Vitality County Championship. Skipper Northeast conceded Glamorgan had been totally outplayed Sussex after the home side wrapped up their seventh win of the season with a day to spare.

And with Irish teenager Colin Cronin claiming his first-ever car-racing victory in the Ginetta Junior Championship on Saturday, it was one of the best weekends for many years for the team from Maldon, Essex.

Stevie Williams says he could not be prouder after becoming the first Welshman to win the Tour of Britain. The Welsh rider Williams, 28, who won stages two and three, secured victory in 21 hours 25 minutes 14 seconds, with fellow Briton Oscar Onley 16 seconds behind him in second place.

Aled Davies has admitted he is finding it hard to offer an explanation for his failure to win a fourth Paralympic gold medal. Wales’ greatest current Paralympian was unable to follow up his titles of the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Games and had to settle for shot put silver in Paris on a final weekend where Laura Sugar took gold in para canoeing and Phil Pratt earned a silver in wheelchair basketball.

Rob Davies was overjoyed to be back on the Paralympic podium after winning silver at Paris 2024, eight years after his first medal. The table tennis player last competed at a Paralympic Games in Rio and won men’s singles class one gold but was unable to defend his title at Tokyo 2020 after he was side-lined with a shoulder injury.

Stevie Williams paid tribute to his teammates after he rode to a back-to-back victories at the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain. The Welshman rider took his second stage win of the race to extend his lead at the top of the general classification.

Olivia Breen took a fourth-place finish on the chin after she was cruelly pipped to a second consecutive long jump Paralympic bronze. The 28-year-old from Wales jumped a distance of 4.99m in Paris, the exact same as Columbia’s Karen Palomeque Moreno.
