Merthyr Town extended their unbeaten start to the season with a five-star performance at the Loadlok Community Stadium.

Adam Davies, Kerry Morgan and Stuart Fleetwood scored the goals for Martyrs, who now go to play Hereford FC at Edgar Street on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm).

Manager Gavin Williams and his Martyrs have now earned two wins and two draws from their first four Southern League Premier Division matches and they travel to play rivals Hereford with confidence.

Kyle Copp shone for Merthyr and went close to scoring, hitting a post and bringing a superb save from the keeper after his team played some classy football.

Davies netted from the rebound after Copp had a shot blocked was stopped, while Morgan made it 2-0 with a chip over the keeper.

Fleetwood added the third with a neat finish and he also went close when he just failed to connect with a Davies cross.

Goalkeeper Oliver Davies kept a solid clean sheet, while Cameron Pring continued his good form.

Merthyr are seventh in the table, one point ahead of Hereford, who won 3-1 at St Neots.

Two teams, Banbury and Kettering, have 100 per cent records after four matches, while King’s Lynn are unbeaten with 10 points.

The next home match for Cardiff is against Western League Willand Rovers in the FA Cup on Saturday, September 2, while they entertain Bishops Stortford in the Southern League a week later.

Merthyr Town: O Davies, A Davies, C Pring, R Patten, J Wright (capt), S Tancock, C Jenkins (A Evans), E Richards (J Bowen), S Fleetwood, K Copp, K Morgan (M Touray).
