The Swans head coach has stressed his side are concentrating solely on winning this next match and not the rewards that may follow.
The club’s supporters may look at the opportunity differently, though, after seeing their team boost their position in the table with a 2-1 victory away at Portsmouth on Tuesday night.
It was a result that moved them within five points of the top six.
With Wrexham currently occupying sixth place after suffering a home defeat to Hull City, a win at Stok Cae Ras would close the gap to just two points.

Despite that prospect, Matos made it clear he is not looking beyond the immediate challenge posed by Phil Parkinson’s side.
"What we need to think is what we can do to win the game," the Portuguese said.
"It will be a really hard game as we all know - quite emotional as well.
"First we need to see what we can improve from today [at Portsmouth] to have more consistency and [then] analyse Wrexham. It's more about recovery, mindset and going there to compete."

Swansea’s victory at Fratton Park was built on two well-taken first-half goals from Ethan Galbraith and Josh Key.
Both struck impressive efforts from distance to give the visitors control of the match before the break.
The Swans could have extended their advantage after half-time but were unable to convert further opportunities, allowing Portsmouth to remain within touching distance.
Jacob Brown eventually pulled one back for the hosts late on, though Swansea held on without serious alarm to claim the points.
The result was significant for Matos’ side, who have impressed at home since he took charge but had struggled to turn promising away displays into victories earlier in the season.

Reflecting on that improvement, the Swansea boss felt the performance showed the balance he has been seeking from his team on the road.
"I think we had good performances away from home, but we didn't get the points from the performances," added Matos.
"We needed to improve a few things to keep winning games away. That's what we have been trying.
"[At Portsmouth] we got a little bit of both. The mentality was there, the resilience was there, the organisation was there, then of course the performance as well. I am really happy for the team, for the club and for the fans."
Matos acknowledged the pressure his side faced during the latter stages as Portsmouth pushed for an equaliser.
"We expected Portsmouth to fight back. It is not an easy place to come and Portsmouth have a lot of weapons.
"Putting on pressure and controlling the space in behind is not easy so towards the end the fatigue hit and the bench was important to help the team.
"Some games you have to win it with more than controlling the ball and I think we did that today.
"When you have a 2-0 game it can be quite tricky as it can turn quickly.
"The first half was a very good performance."
While Swansea left the south coast celebrating, it was a frustrating night for Portsmouth manager John Mousinho, who felt his side’s poor opening period ultimately proved costly.
"We were really poor in the first half and much improved in the second. We nearly got ourselves back into it but we gave ourselves too much to do," he said.
"It is very disappointing. You think where was the intent in the first half? Where was the aggression and front-footedness?
"Pretty much everything went wrong. We were a couple of yards off everything. Regardless of how good Swansea were good on the ball, we didn't do much right."
Mousinho admitted his team struggled badly in possession during the opening 45 minutes.
"It was like the first time we had seen a ball in the first half. We gave it away relentlessly.
"I don't think the Sheffield United and Hull defeats are too much of an issue.
"I thought we dominated both those games and were unlucky not to come away with more.
"Tonight was the first time we have played as poorly as that. We didn't put in a proper home performance in the first 45 minutes.
"Regardless of whether you are playing home or away, you can't perform like that."
