It’s Down to the Wire on Saturday for Wrexham and Newport County

The Dragon Diary

The Dragon Diary

All the pain – and all the gain – will be compacted into 90 minutes this weekend for two of Wales’ most famous football clubs.

It’s going down the wire, and the final match of the regular season, for both Wrexham and Newport County on Saturday.

For Wrexham, a victory over Middlesbrough will be enough to give them a Championship play-off spot, provided Hull City do not score one or more goals than Wrexham in beating Norwich City.

Newport also have to keep other results in mind as they battle for survival in League Two away at Barrow.

But their job is more straightforward. If they win, then no-one can prevent them from staying above the relegation zone.

Lose or draw, then they could well slip out of the Football League depending on Crawley Town and Harrogate’s results.

Let the jeopardy begin.
