Merthyr Town entertain relegation battlers Dunstable Town to the Loadlok Community Stadium this evening (7.45pm).
Dunstable are second from bottom in the EvoStik Southern League Premier Division, just above Gosport Borough, and are intent on avoiding the drop.
The Martyrs have avoided being dragged into the battle and a home win against Dunstable would be a major boost.
Dunstable have suffered 3-2 defeats in back-to-back home fixtures, losing against St Neots and Stratford Town.
Merthyr will face an improving Dunstable team, who have scored five more goals in their last eight fixtures than they did during the first eight games of this season – and conceded nine fewer.
Gedeon Okito returned from injury to captain the Dunstable team against Stratford and will lead the team in their rearranged fixture against Merthyr Town.
The Martyrs are at home again on Saturday when St Ives visit South Wales, while Dunstable entertain Hereford FC this weekend.
Merthyr Town matches 13 fixtures left this season and a home win would ease any tensions. They are 26 points ahead of bottom club Gosport and 23 in front of Dunstable.
Only one club will be relegated and Merthyr’s target during what has been a difficult season is to stay in the Premier Division.
Craig Reddy returned to the squad against Gosport away after completing a four game ban, while Kerry Morgan was ruled out by injury. Jarrad Wright completed his four match suspension by missing the game.
