Hit-Man ‘Traylz’ Aiming At Double Century For Martyrs

Ian Traylor, Merthyr Town’s leading scorer with 22 goals this season, is gunning for Hampshire club Hartley Wintney.

‘Traylz’ has netted a total of 178 goals for the Martyrs and would love to take that tally past the 200 mark.

It won’t be this season, but former Hirwaun and Pontypridd Town striker Traylor, aged 29, badly wants to add to his total over the remaining six Merthyr matches.

The Martyrs play the first of three remaining home fixtures when Hartley Wintney visit the MetCoaches Community Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

Hampshire club Hartley are one point ahead of Merthyr in the EvoStik Southern League Premier table.

Farnborough and Walton Casuals are the two other teams yet to visit Merthyr Tydfil this season.

Teenage goalkeeper Scott Reed, on loan from Swansea City, looks certain to play on as Merthyr aim to earn a home victory.

Hartley Wintney lost 3-0 against leaders Weymouth in their last match, a fixture watched by 437 spectators at the Green Lane Memorial Ground.

The draw for the City Security Services Challenge Cup semi-finals has been made: Cinderford Town v Blackfield & Langley, Stratford Town v Lowestoft Town

Semi-final matches played week commencing April 8.
