Cardiff City’s Emyr Huws has signed for Ipswich Town in a multi-million pounds transfer.
Neither club have revealed the fee, but Ipswich have certainly paid a substantial amount for the Wales international.
He made 13 appearances for the Tractor Boys during a loan spell in the second half of 2016-17 and he has now signed a four-year contract for the Suffolk club.
Wales international Huws, 23, was not in Cardiff manager Neil Warnock’s plans for the future and the fee Ipswich have paid will enable the Bluebirds to strengthen their squad again.
Warnock still needs a creative central midfield player and a striker to challenge Kenneth Zohore and Danny Ward.
“I’m really happy to get it done and delighted to sign up here,” said Huws. “It took a bit longer than expected, but I’m really happy to get it all sorted.”
Blues boss Mick McCarthy is full of praise for Huws, saying: “Emyr was outstanding for us last season. He was arguably our best player along with Tom Lawrence and certainly made us a better team.
“He’s only 23 so there is improvement in him. I’m sure other clubs would have been interested in him but we’re delighted he’s back with us. He was different class when he was here.”
Llanelli-born Huws joined Cardiff from Wigan last summer, signing a three-year deal, but only made four appearances for the club before moving to Suffolk.
He was a youth player with Swansea City and Manchester City before moving on to Northampton and Birmingham on loan.
He joined Wigan in 2014 on a permanent deal and made 16 appearances for the Latics before signing for Huddersfield on loan a season later, scoring five goals in 31 games.
