Newport County are to help their fans with the long trip to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup by paying half their costs.
The gesture is a thank you by the club for their supporters’ role in their giant-killing run that has taken them through to the fourth round.
Manager Mike Flynn and his team earned a stunning 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the third round before being handed a fourth round trip to the Riverside Stadium on January 26.
That means a near 600-mile round trip for fans to face Boro, who are managed by Newport-raised former County player Tony Pulis.
But if they join the trip being arranged by the official supporters club, then Exiles followers will only pay half the cost.
A statement on the club’s website says: “All of our fans were a credit to our club in front of a worldwide audience of millions on national television and across social media.
“Following this famous win, we hope as many Exiles as possible make the trip to the Riverside Stadium on the 26th January and create a similar atmosphere in support of the team.
“In order to ensure we make the trip as affordable as possible, allowing as many fans as possible to travel, the club has agreed to contribute 50% of the cost of the official supporters’ coach travel to the North East.

Pulis has already said he expects a large contingent of his connections from his home city to make the trip north to the Championship club.
“I’ll have one stand for myself I think for all the people who want to travel up!” he said.
“I left home when I was 15 or 16 years of age, which was a long time ago. My association with that area, not just Newport, but the dock area. I’ve nothing but great memories, great people down there.
“I’ve learnt everything that I know now from that community and that togetherness.
“The loyalty as a group has stuck with me and Flynny lived four or five streets down further than what I was so we were born very close together.”
