New loan signing Morgan Gibbs-White is aiming to make a similar splash at Swansea City next season to the one Rhian Brewster made in the campaign just passed.
Swans head coach Steve Cooper has again mined the seam of talent he helped produce when he was in charge of the England U17 side.
Midfielder Gibbs-White, 20 – who has joined on a season long loan from Wolves – was part of Cooper’s crew of 2017 that won the age-group World Cup and also included Brewster, plus two more of the club’s borrowed staff last season in Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi.
Brewster – who scored 11 goals in 22 games – Guehi and Gallagher all made their presence felt as the Swans surged into the play-offs, only to see Brentford end their promotion hopes.
“I spoke to Rhian about his time down here and he said he loved every minute of it,” said Gibbs-White.
“When I got that sort of feedback and I saw the sort of impact he had down here with the goals he scored, I looked at it and thought maybe I can do that.

“I am happy to be here and I cannot wait to impress the fans and show them everything I can do.
“I would love to follow on from what those three guys did here because they were a massive part of what went on last season in trying to get back to where we should be.
“That was one of the main reasons I wanted to come down here, because of their development, and I am hoping I can do the same and help the boys.”
Gibbs-White has become the Swans’ third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Korey Smith and Freddie Woodman.
It is expected Guehi will join him for another season on loan from Chelsea, but it appears unlikely Brewster will return for another spell from Liverpool and Gallagher is to remain at Chelsea.
Gibbs-White made 16 first team appearances for Wolves last season, seven of them coming in the Premier League.
He also has experience of promotion from the Championship, having been part of the Wolves side who won the title in 2018.
“I think it is about having a hunger and desire to try and win every game and see out every game,” said Gibbs-White.
“We know if we want to get Swansea back to where they should be, we are going to need to be ruthless.
“You want to concede fewer goals, score more goals and have that game management to see out games.”
