Neil Warnock believes he has a new warrior leader at Cardiff City after the club completed a deal to sign Marlon Park from Bristol City. The midfielder has moved to the Bluebirds for an undisclosed fee after six years at Ashton Gate and Warnock reckons the 28-year-old will fill the gap left by Aron Gunnarsson. “He’s the leader we’ve been looking for now since we knew Gunnars (Aron Gunnarsson) was leaving,” said Warnock.

“We waited and waited and finally managed to get it over the line today, so we’re delighted with that, really.

“I think everyone knew we missed that leadership and I think this squad has got great characters now in different areas.”

Pack has been an integral player for the Robins in recent seasons – making 288 appearances and scoring 12 goals.

But Bristol City manager Lee Johnson said the offer from Cardiff was too good to turn down.

“At this stage in his career and what was offered for him, it makes this move the right decision for Marlon and Bristol City,” said Johnson.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with Marlon and I’ve had the privilege of seeing him develop both on and off the field.

“He is a fantastic person – as good an individual as I’ve worked with – and has been a great servant and leader to this club, and I thank him on behalf of everyone, both staff and players. “

Since signing from Cheltenham Town after a successful trial in 2013, Pack has been a near ever-present at Ashton Gate.

He made 48 appearances for the club last season, but picked up an eye-catching 13 yellow cards.
