Manager Graham Westley has left Newport County.
The former Preston and Peterborough team boss was in charge for five months, having replaced Warren Feeney last October..
Assistant manager Dino Maamria has also left the club and coach Mike Flynn is in charge for the rest of this season.
Newport are 11 points away from safety in League Two and lost 4-0 at home against Leyton Orient in their last match.
The decision to make a change was taken by Newport directors on Wednesday evening and the players were told on Thursday.
A press conference where Westley was scheduled to appear on Thursday was cancelled.
Flynn will be manager for the first time at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
A statement released by the club this morning said: “Newport County AFC board of directors met yesterday evening.
“As a result, the club can confirm that manager Graham Westley has been relieved of his first-team duties with immediate effect.
“In addition, assistant manager Dino Maamria will also be leaving the club.”
It had been reported that Westley was given two matches to save his job, at Crewe on Saturday and away to Morecambe next Tuesday.
The club’s board denied that that was the case.
Newport-born Flynn, 36, is in his fourth spell with his home city club.
He first joined the club in 1999 and has also played for Barry Town, Wigan, Blackpool, Gillingham and Huddersfield,
Flynn was in the County team who finished third in the Conference National League and won the play-offs, beating Wrexham 2-0 at Wembley Stadium, to earn a place in the Football League.
