Former Wales Under 20 Grand Slam skipper Tom Phillips will lead the side into the third round. The Scarlets currently sit in the second position in their pool after securing a victory over Hartpury and suffering a narrow defeat to Ulster A in the opening two rounds. Hard running RGC centre Tom Hughes also gets a first start in the game as he and his Gog team mates return to the ground where they suffered a loss against Carmarthen Quins in the top of the table West Division clash in the Principality Premiership.

Paul Clement has revealed he would be keen to rekindle Swansea City’s interest in Nacer Chadli. The Swans face Chadli’s club West Bromwich Albion in a critical game at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday, although the Belgian midfielder will be missing through injury. Chadli was a target for Clement before the season began, but West Brom were reluctant to sell even though the player was believed to have fallen out with former manager Tony Pulis.

Paul Clement insists he does not fear the sack should Swansea City fail to turn the corner against West Brom on Saturday. The Swans boss has revealed he spoke with co-owner Steve Kaplan for 90 minutes on Wednesday night – a telephone conversation he says he found reassuring, rather than left him feeling he was one defeat away from dismissal. After last weekend’s defeat at Stoke – which sent Swansea to the bottom of the Premier League – Clement cut a despondent figure with his tone and body language suggesting he was running out of faith.

Football Association of Wales chiefs admitted they were disappointed after Wales did not win the right to stage any Euro 2020 games. The FAW has written to UEFA to ask why it was overlooked with Wembley handed the extra four games after Belgium lost the right to host matches.

Wales Under 20 have been drawn in the same pool as reigning champions New Zealand, Australia and Japan for the 2018 Junior World Championships. World Rugby announced this week the event will be staged in France, venue for the 2023 World Cup, with matches being played in Béziers, Perpignan and Narbonne.
