The Beast Of Holywell Shoots Down Holyhead Hotspur

The beast is back. Steve Lewis fired a second successive hat-trick for Holywell Town in their 4-0 Huws Gray Alliance win against Holyhead Hotspur.

Centre-forward Lewis, nicknamed ‘The Beast’, is a former Bangor City, Rhyl, Droylsden, Caernarfon Town, Bala Town, Marine and Nantwich striker.

With other League teams in JD Welsh Cup Action, the Wellmen faced Holyhead in the only Alliance game of the day and picked up three points in a 4-0 victory against the Anglesey side Hotspur.

Lewis, fresh from his hat-trick against Airbus, fired another treble.

His first came after 14 minutes and Jon Jones followed up with a headed goal on the half hour to give Town a 2-0 half time lead.

Goalkeeper Shaun Pearson made a couple of good saves to deny Holyhead, while Lewis added his second in the 54th minute before completing his hat-trick (68 minutes).

Williams also hit the bar, while Graeme Williams fired into the side netting from a tight angle after rounding the goalkeeper.

The Wellmen moved up to third in the league table and face a tough trip next week away to Penrhyncoch.

In the Welsh cup Airbus Broughton, Flint Town United, Porthmadog and Ruthin Town progressed to the next round.

Airbus needed extra time to settle their game against Goyte. After a goalless first have Leo Riley gave Airbus the lead with Goyte netting to take the game into extra time.

An own goal and a Dimase Kiwanda penalty saw the Airman into the next round

A second half penalty from Alan Bull was the only goal of the game as Flint Town United progressed at the expense of Buckley Town.

Porthmadog were a goal behind early on against South Wales visitors Panteg, but by half-time three goals from Joe Chaplin had given them the advantage.

Porth went on to add four more in the second half through Chaplin, Julian Williams (2) and Gareth Jones Evans in a 7-2 win.

The result of the round for Huws Gray Alliance teams came at Prestatyn Town where Ruthin Town scored three without reply though Gwion Owen, Llyr Morris (penalty) and Garmon Hafal

Penrhyncoch, Gresford Athletic, Guilsfield and Llandudno Junction all failed to make it to the next round after defeats against TNS, Llandudno, Newtown and Penydarren
