Cardiff City manager Steve Morison has claimed no-one cares whether his team win at home or away, so long as the points are gathered. The Bluebirds return to the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, looking to build on their away victory at Luton Town last week, which gave Morison his third victory since he took over from Mick McCarthy. Two of those three wins have come away from home, with Morison’s home record so far showing one win against Huddersfield, but two defeats – to QPR and Hull City.

The manager cites the “instant connection” between Paterson and the Swansea faithful as a big factor in him hitting the ground running for his new team. Paterson, 29, was a free agent up until a few days before the 2021-22 campaign after leaving Bristol City and having a trial with Middlesbrough.

Gemma Grainger has praised her Wales players for delivering one of the best displays since she took charge, despite their 2-0 defeat to France on Tuesday night. It was a first loss of the Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign for Wales and it leaves them unlikely to finish top of Group I to gain automatic entry to the tournament finals. Even if Wales were to reverse the result when France visit Llanelli next year, Grainger’s side would still be relying on the group leaders to drop points elsewhere if Wales were to end up topping the group.

Rob Page has paid tribute to Gary Speed on the 10th anniversary of his former teammate’s death – crediting him with sparking the revival in Welsh international football. As current caretaker manager Page now looks ahead to a World Cup play-off semi-final at home to Austria in March, but he has also spoken of his gratitude to Speed for planting the seeds of success during his time in charge of the national team. Saturday marks exactly 10 years since Speed was found dead at his home in Chester on November 27, 2011, aged 42.

The Cardiff fans voiced their frustration at the end of both halves and were disappointed that their side couldn’t kick on from their recent back-to-back victories. “I don’t really understand it, if I’m honest,” said Morison.

Russell Martin has praised his Swansea City players for their patience and dominance after a near 900-pass runaround of Barnsley at Oakwell. The Swans made 899 completed passes in their 2-0 victory on Wednesday night, even though they managed only three shots on target. Martin made no apologies for the lack of firepower in a dominant first-half where the home side chased the ball, but the visitors failed to have a strike at goal.

Jess Fishlock has sparked a debate on equal pay for Wales international footballers across the men’s and women’s teams. Fishlock – the most capped player in Welsh football history with 127 appearances and recently voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the American league – would like to see appearance fees for pulling on the red shirt the same for both sexes. The Wales midfielder makes the suggestion in a special one-off S4C documentary, being screened on Wednesday night.

Russell Martin has admitted his frustration with penalty decisions should not deflect responsibility for dropped points at home by Swansea City. The Swans head coach saw his team held to a 1-1 draw against Blackpool when they conceded late on, having had two strong appeals for spot kicks turned down by referee Keith Stroud. The draw was the first time Martin’s side have dropped points at home since mid-September and leaves the club back in 12th place in the Championship, five points adrift of the play-off places.

Steve Morison has revealed he had foretold that James Collins could be Cardiff City’s secret weapon. The new Bluebirds manager made it back-to-back Championship victories after Collins came off the bench to clinch a much-needed 2-1 victory over Preston. The victory – just Cardiff’s fourth in the league all season – lifts them up to 19th in the Championship, two places and three points above the relegation zone.
