Newport County have launched a third raid into the JD Cymru Premier League by signing Will Evans from Bala Town.
The trend was begun by Michael Flynn when he brought defender Priestley Farquharson to the club from Connah’s Quay Nomads in January, 2021, and his successor, James Rowberry, introduced the Penybont midfielder James Waite last season.
Now, the 24-year-old former Cardiff Met star Evans is hoping he can make the breakthrough into the Football League after putting pen to paper on a deal that will be completed when the transfer window officially opens on 10 June.
Evans has enjoyed two impressive seasons with Bala, who finished as runners-up to The New Saints in the JD Cymru Premier this year to secure European football once again.
He notched 11 goals and four assists in his 24 league outings, adding to his 13 goals in 31 games in his debut campaign.

“We’ve been observing Will’s progression over a period of time now and he has shown a real hunger in wanting to join our club. He will give us another dimension within our attacking department,” said Rowberry.
Evans joins former Cardiff City starlet Sam Bowen in joining County this summer as Rowberry seeks to rebuild his squad after just falling short of the League Two play-off places.
Younger legs are required to back up the skill and experience of the likes of Scot Bennett, Robbie Willmott and Matty Dolan and Evans will join another former Cardiff U23 player, Waite, in lowering the average age.
Interest peaked in securing Evans’ signature after he scored two goals in the 4-0 win by Wales C over England C at the end of March.
