Wrexham AFC will name their new manager by next Wednesday which leaves caretaker Brian Flynn in charge at Woking today.
Flynn is also likely be the main man for next Tuesday’s Vanarama National League home clash with Harrogate before stepping aside.
The Dragons will then reveal their new manager and he will take charge for the Scottish League Challenge Cup tie against St Mirren under-21s next Saturday.
A club statement said: “We can confirm that the recruitment process to appoint a new first team manager is well underway and we should be able to announce a decision within the next five working days.
“Brian Flynn will continue to manage the first team in the interim, including our game vs Woking.”
Wrexham badly need a win at Woking following a 3-1 midweek defeat against Solihull Moors away.
Woking were promoted to the National League after winning the South Division last season and the former leaders are now fourth following four draws and two defeats in six games.
Flynn’s team have earned only one win in their last eight league fixtures and line fifth from bottom.
Striker JJ Hooper says Wrexham players retain belief that they can climb the table, saying: “Woking are doing well this season, but we can beat anyone in this league,” he said.
“We need to focus, sort out the little negatives we have here and there. We have to believe. The majority of the squad was here last season and they reached the play-offs.
“We brought in quality over the summer and it’s about belief now. We have the players here and we must show that.”
Wrexham launched their search for a new manager following the dismissal of Bryan Hughes.
Captain Shaun Pearson, who will miss the match at Woking because of suspension, says: “We were well organised, worked our backsides off, everybody was clear on their roles and responsibilities of what was expected.
“We lacked a little bit going the other way, which has been addressed, but it’s probably gone too far and we lost balance in the team.
“Hopefully the balance will be addressed and we will start earning better results.
“You try to buy into what the manager wanted and at times it showed signs of working well, but ultimately we conceded too many goals.
“That’s something that needs addressing and I’m sure whoever the manager is that comes in will address these things straightaway.”
