Wrexham have made it clear they have the intensity and commitment to maintain a Vanarama National League promotion challenge.
Their 2-0 win at bottom club Guiseley took the Reds top on goal difference and their next match is against Halifax at home next Saturday.
Top scorer Chris Holroyd scored his 13th goal of the season and a sixth in his last six appearances, while captain Shaun Pearson headed their second.
“It was about being professional and that is what we were,” said Wrexham manager Dean Keates. ”During the first 20 minutes we were outstanding and kept going.
“You have to come to places like this and grind it out and we were outstanding today.”
Guiseley are fighting for their lives in the National League, lying bottom of the table and trying to avoid relegation.
Their small, cramped Nethermoor Park Stadium is a tough place to visit, but Wrexham were prepared to battle all the way.
Wrexham have moved above Macclesfield into top spot, although the Silkmen have a game in hand.
Aldershot are a point behind the top two and have also played one game less than the leaders.
Manager Dean Keates and his team took over at the top and it was the 14th time this season the National League leaders have changed.
Wrexham went ahead after 16 minutes when Holroyd scored and his almost made it 2-0.
James Jennings fired across goal and Holroyd flicked the ball gaolbirds, but goalkeeper Luke Coddington made an outstanding save.
Captain Pearson had an outstanding match at the back and he added Wrexham’s second when he headed in from a corner.
