Wrexham extended their unbeaten Vanarama National League run to nine matches, but manager Dean Keates and his players know they are drawing too many.
They have earned 15 points in that run when there were 27 on offer.
The Reds have drawn 12 games in 33 fixtures this season, including their 1-1 result against Halifax at the Racecourse today, and six of those have come during their unbeaten spell.
Manager Dean Keates said: “In the first 20 minutes we played well and moved the ball well, side to side, and scored a great goal.
“We were 1-0 ahead, but became a bit complacent let their extra player in midfield spend too much time on the ball.
“You have to give full credit to Halifax but we will look at ourselves first and foremost.”
Manny Smith and captain Shaun Pearson were outstanding at the back for Wrexham, while Sam Wedgbury shone in midfield.
Keates named an unchanged line-up from the 2-0 win at Guiseley on their last outing, but the win they craved in front of t 5,000 spectators proved just out of reach.
Their victory at Guiseley had lifted them top of the table, but Wrexham are now in second place behind Macclesfield Town. The Silkmen defeated bottom club Guiseley.
The next test for Keates’ team is against promotion rivals Sutton United next Saturday, while they go to Solihull Moors on Tuesday, February 20.
Aldershot provide the next opposition at the Racecourse in two weeks.
Scott Boden put Wrexham in front after 19 minutes, heading in a Kevin Roberts cross, while Scott Garner equalised just before half-time, netting at the far post after a corner was flicked on.
The home team finished with 10 players after Paul Rutherford was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Wrexham were making two substitutions when Rutherford, one of the players going off, was cautioned for the second time with eight minutes left. Jack Mackreth was already on the bench, but referee Daniel Middleton produced a red card for Rutherford.
Mackreth had to swiftly return to the bench.
It could have been worse for Wrexham, but the Shaymen’s 6ft 6ins striker Tom Denton missed two outstanding second half chances which could have earned all three points for the visitors.
The Reds have now drawn three of their last four matches, two of those at home, and they badly need to earn a positive result when they play fifth-placed Sutton United at the Borough Sports Ground in Surrey next Saturday.
