The New Saints were amongst the WPL clubs making late Deadline Day moves to bolster their squads after securing the signing of highly-rated winger Billy Whitehouse.
The 22-year-old moves to Park Hall from Northern Premier League outfit Tadcaster Albion after starting his career at Doncaster Rovers before earning a move to Leeds United.
Despite being an unknown quantity in WPL circles, Scott Ruscoe believes Whitehouse has all the credentials to be a success at the club.
“He’s a player of good potential and has been at very good clubs previously,” Ruscoe explained.
“He’s an energetic, skilful, hardworking player which fits the mould of a player of TNS. We’ve had glowing reports about his attitude and what sort of person he is off the field, so I think it’s good a time.
“It’s one for now and one for the future, he definitely adds quality to our squad.”
Title rivals Barry Town United and Connah’s Quay also left it late in the day to announce their business.
League leader’s Barry Town closed a deal late on for Cardiff Met 19-year-old striker Sam Snaith. Barry’s biggest transfer activity could be yet to come however – with the intriguing promise of further news to be announced today.
Speculation linking full-back Macauley Southam-Hales with Championship clubs failed to materialise and he remains at Jenner Park.
Connah’s Quay have completed the impressive signing of midfielder Adam Barton from Dundee United on loan until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old playmaker has played first-team football Preston, Coventry and Portsmouth.
“We’re delighted to sign Adam on loan until the end of the season – his experience add quality will definitely add to the squad,” said Andy Morrison.
Connah’s Quay are believed to have missed out on left-back Anthony Stephens in the eleventh hour, who opted for a return to former club Bala Town, after being one of a number of players to depart crisis-stricken Bangor City.
Bala Town also moved for former central defender Shaun Kelly, who returns from a spell playing in Australia.
Llandudno continued to add to their squad ahead of their relegation run-in with the arrivals of Bangor City midfield duo Yalany Baio and Sameron Dool.
Newtown added some proven WPL-experience to their squad by securing the signature of former The New Saints forward Matty Williams from Llandudno.
