Conor Wilkinson has given Newport County’s survival hopes a boost by extending his loan deal for another month.

The Bolton Wanderers striker has impressed during his initial month at Rodney Parade and has struck up a good partnership with Scott Boden.

Wilkinson, 21, netted on his debut against Dagenham&Redbridge and has so far made four appearances for the Exiles.

Manager Warren Feeney said: “He is a player that certainly has ability, and causes problems for defenders.

“Conor has struck up a good partnership with Scott up front and he is an intelligent player.

“He has taken on board little pieces of advice that the staff have given him and I think he gives us another option going forward.

“I’m delighted with the performances that he has produced so far.

“I’m pleased that we have managed to arrange a deal to extend the loan and have to say thank you to Bolton Wanderers, for allowing us to keep Conor for another month.”

Wilkinson’s extended loan deal will run until the League Two clash with local rivals Bristol Rovers at Rodney Parade on March 19.

County are 20th in the table, six points above the drop zone with 17 games left.
