Venezuelan international Rolf Feltscher has signed for Cardiff City on a short-term deal, subject to international clearance.
Defender Feltscher, 27, has signed a short-term contract until Janary 13 and will wear the number 29 shirt.
He would be available for Cardiff’s home match against Brentford on Saturday if international clearance is granted in time.
On arrival at our training ground, the Vale Resort, Feltscher spoke to iFollow Cardiff City, saying: “I’m really happy to be here.
“It’s important that I work with the manager to understand what he wants, but I’m ready.”
Manager Neil Warnock added: “I’m pleased to get Rolf on board.
“He’s been training with us for a few weeks and we wanted to see him in a couple of games, but he’s done well and offers us some good cover and competition at the back.”
Feltscher, who can play at full-back or centre-back, is able to sign for Cardiff outside the transfer window because he is a free agent.
The Switzerland-born defender started his career with Grasshoppers, while he has also played for Italian club Parma, Lausanne-Sport, German club MSV Duisburg, Real Zaragoza and Getafe.
His contract with Spanish club Getafe expired in the summer and he had a trial spell with Birmingham City before he came to Cardiff. When manager Harry Redknapp left the Blues he recommended Fletcher to Neil Warnock.
Feltscher played for Switzerland at under-19 and under-21 levels, but later switched allegiance to Venezuela and he has 16 senior caps.
