Trefelin BGC and Swansea University are slugging it out for the Welsh League Division Three title.

Port Talbot based Trefelin are the only team in the Welsh League still unbeaten this season, but they have been unable to shake off the determined students.

Manager Richard Ryan’s Trefelin team won 5-1 against Caerau FC at home in their latest match and the same teams face each other again on Saturday.

Jordan Edwards (2), Darren Thomas (2) and Matthew Beynon scored Trefelin’s goals and extended their unbeaten run to 23 league fixtures, although they have drawn five and that has allowed the University boys to stay in the hunt.

While Trefelin are unbeaten and bidding to earn promotion to Welsh League Division Two, Penydarren BGC are chasing success in the Highadmit Projects South Wales Alliance.

Penydarren have had an outstanding season, reaching the JD Sports Welsh Cup quarter-finals before losing against Bangor City, are are still on course to achieve their number one aim.

That is to earn promotion from the Alliance to the Welsh League Third Division. The problem for Penydarren is that they have played only half of their Alliance fixtures and have another 15 matches to fit in.

The team from Merthyr Tydfil are also still in the WJohn Owen Cup semi-finals.

Owen Cup draw: Penydarren BGC v Clwb Cymric (to be played April 9); Blaenrhondda FC v Caerphilly Athletic (April 16).

South Wales FA Senior Cup semi-finals: Llangeinor FC v AFC Whitchurch; Penrhiwceiber Cons v Cornelly United (to be played on April 7).
