Seven-Up For Penydarren In Uefa Regions Cup

Penydarren BGC have seven players in the South Wales squad for their Uefa Regions Cup group matches in Bulgaria.

The Welsh League new boys, currently second in Division Three, were unbeaten in the South Wales Alliance Premier last season and earned promotion.

They also swept into the JD Sports Welsh Cup quarter-finals before going out against Bangor City, who finished runners-up in the Welsh Premier League.

The 18-man squad will play three games in six days at Hadzhi Dimitar Stadium, Sliven, Bulgaria. They face clubs from Belarus, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Christopher Colvin-Owens, who scored more than 30 goals for Penydarren last season, is a key player in the South Wales squad.

The Uefa Regions Cup is for amateur teams around Europe.

Steven Price will captain the South Wales team. He joined Penydarren from Brecon Corries.

Bridgend Street’s Nathan Gulley and Richard Noyes are in the squad along with Port Talbot’s Ryan Morgan.

South Wales finished second in the preliminary round during June to qualify for this round.

South Wales squad: Steve Price (Penydarren BC), Ryan Morgan (Port Talbot Town), Richard Noyes (Bridgend Street), Alex Lloyd (Penydarren BGC), Phil Quick (Canton Liberals), Asa Lloyd (Penydarren BGC), Travis Monk (Trefelin BGC), Gavin Morris (AFC Porth), Chris Quick (Canton Liberals), Alex Long (Penydarren BGC), Chris Owens (Penydarren BGC), Aaron Fettah (Canton Liberals), Joshua Brogden (Penydarren BGC), Andre Phillips (Canton Liberals), Nathan Gully (Bridgend Street), Jordan Evans (Baglan Dragons), Joseph Morelli (Cardiff Draconians), Connor Keating (Penydarren BGC).

Only the group winners will qualify for the final round which will be played next summer.
