Pike’s Early Brace Helps Wales Women’s U19s Join The Elite

Wales Women’s U19 thrashed Kazakhstan 6-0 to qualify for the Elite Round of the UEFA U19 Championships. The win at the Namyz Stadium in Shymkent saw Wales qualify as one of the four third-placed teams with the best record against the top two in their section.

The win at the Namyz Stadium in Shymkent saw Wales qualify as one of the four third-placed teams with the best record against the top two in their section.

Wales had drawn 0-0 with Slovenia and lost 4-0 loss against England.

Cassia Pike opened the scoring in the 15th minute against Kazakhstan, who were hosting the qualifying round of the UEFA U19 Championships.

Pike added a second on 38 minutes then in first half injury-time Gwen Davies struck to make it 3-0.

Ella Powell added a penalty in the 62nd minute penalty before Daisy Evan-Watkins netted twice to complete the stunning victory.

Wales can now look forward ahead to the Elite Round, which will be drawn in November and played in either April or June.

The Elite Round will consist of seven four-team groups with the section winners joining Switzerland in the finals.
