Newport County have been removed from the FAW Youth Cup.

The team coached by former Cardiff City defender Byron Anthony defeated Garden Village 13-0, but the Football Association of Wales say they included ineligible players.

A statement says: “The FAW Game Board unanimously agreed that Newport County had breached Rule 55 and Youth Cup Rule 24, and had therefore played two ineligible players in the match.

“In accordance with FAW Youth Cup Rule 20, the Board decided that Newport County shall be removed from the Youth Cup Competition and that Garden Village be reinstated to play in Round 2.”

A statement said County said: “The club attended an FAW hearing charged with fielding ineligible players.
