Neil Warnock loved Cardiff City’s 2-1 win at Wolves, saying: “What a cracking game!”
The Bluebirds manager took a fair bit of stick from home supporters over the 90 minutes and he said: “The crowd were great. You can tell how much the Wolves fans love me and I reveal in that.
“It was a match between two good sides having a go at each other.
“We did not set out to defend, we wanted to attack as much as possible.
“The game plan we set out worked well. I’m delighted with a really good team performance.
“Our best spell came during the 10 minutes after Wolves equalised.
“Mendez-Laing did well for us and it was not just his goal. He was playing wing-back at times. The whole team did a great job and worked hard.”
Lee Peltier returned at full-back, but when Wolves were pressing he moved inside and formed a three-man central defensive unit alongside captain Sean Morrison and Sol Bamba, while Mendez-Laing slotted into a wing-back role to ensure there were no gaps.
Joe Ralls, Loic Damour and Aron Gunnarsson in midfield produced a solid foundation in midfield, protecting their defensive unit and supporting those in attack.
The next test for Warnock’s Bluebirds is against Burton Albion at home in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).
