Michael Flynn is looking forward to welcoming Watford to Rodney Parade and hopes the TV cameras will again prove inspirational for his Newport County players.
The County manager is urging Sky Sports to book his club’s third round Carabao Cup tie against the Hornets as their live match later this month.
Newport booked their place by beating Cambridge United 1-0 on Wednesday night and can now look forward to another money-spinning clash against opposition who were relegated from the Premier League this summer.
“Let’s hope the game against Watford it is on Sky TV because that would be good for the club,” said Flynn, whose team have hosted Manchester City, Leicester City, Tottenham, Leeds United and West Ham in cup competitions in recent season.
“It’s always nice to play against the big teams. Watford have just come down from the Premier League and it will be a tough challenge, But it is one we will look forward to.
“We have already raised our game in this competition to beat a very good Swansea team, which was a very good performance, but I won’t get carried away. We’ve got to keep on working on the things we’ve been working on.”
Flynn just loves a cup run and he was the most relieved man when Scott Twine hammered home an 80th minute winner against Cambridge.
The goal that sent the Exiles through to the Carabao Cup third round for the first time since the 1962/63 season.

Twine’s debut goal for his new team came after 25 other shots had either missed the target or been saved. His thunderbolt strike from 18 yards came from his side’s 11th corner of the night and earned a home tie with Watford in round three.
“I’m delighted and it was an outstanding performance from start to finish. The only disappointing thing was the amount of chances we missed,” added Flynn.
“We created chance after chance, had so many shots and corners and had 72% possession. That’s unheard of for us.

“Scott’s goal was deserving of winning the game. He was excellent all night with his work rate and was a constant menace. I was delighted for him and it is always nice to see a new player at a club get off the mark.
It was a first defeat of the season for Cambridge, who had conquered Birmingham City in the first round.
Cambridge had won three out of three before the game, but failed to hit the target with any of their eight shots, Tom Knowles and Adam May being guilty of bad misses in the second half.
