Cardiff Met’s Cup hero Adam Roscrow has paid tribute to former Swansea City defender Christian Edwards and the impact he has made on the striker.

Roscrow’s two goals helped the students beat Cambrian and Clydach 2-0 to lift the Nathaniel MG Cup on Saturday.

The victory ended the Met’s run of three defeats in showpiece finals and according to Roscrow highlighted the work done by Edwards as director of football.

“I think it’s my 6th season now, so a lot of us have been here quite a while now,” said Roscrow.

“It’s all credit to the coaches. When I first came, I was a midfielder who somehow worked my way up front. So, credit to the coaches especially Swanny (Christian Edwards) and Jenks (Ryan Jenkins).

“I’ve done a lot of work with Jenks, so credit to them for making us the players we are now. They always have high standards, are always pushing us, and always want us to get better and better.

“There’s no doubt now, even after this win, there will be a ‘but’ in the changing rooms afterwards.”

After defeat for the Archers in last year’s final against TNS, Roscrow was delighted to finally end that run of setbacks that included Welsh Premier League European play-offs.

“I didn’t care who scored. It was just a case of getting our hands on the trophy.

“I think it was done ugly. I don’t think that was the best games of football to watch in the world, but it was one of those where they managed to stifle us.”

“So due credit to them (Cambrian). They’ve beaten some good teams to get here, especially TNS.”

After playing in last year’s Wales C International against England at Jenner Park, Roscrow hopes that he can once again be included at the third tier of international level.

“I’d like to think so. Every player eligible to play in it is certainly wanting to play in it. I played in it last year and thoroughly enjoyed it

“That would be something to go for, if I get that opportunity again.
“I had an injury at the start of the season. I was out for about two months and it took me a couple of weeks to get into it.

“But since then I’ve scored quite a few. I think this Cup run is the most goals I have scored in the competition so far.”
