Merthyr Town will pay tribute to former manager Lyn Jones before their BetVictor Southern Premier home clash with Swindon Supermarine on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm).
Jones was manager of a golden generation for Merthyr Tydfil. It was under his management that Merthyr won their first Welsh Cup in 36 years, beating Newport in the final at Ninian Park during 1987.
That season also saw the Martyrs win the Southern League Merit Cup (presented to the team that had scored the most goals out of the three divisions), with Dai Webley scoring 59 goals.
Jones was in charge for the historic confrontation against Atalanta in the European Cup Winners Cup when the Martyrs won 2-1.
The Lyn Jones event at MetCoaches stadium, which will support Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, starts at 1pm before Merthyr Town’s BetVictor Southern Premier match against Swindon Supermarine on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm).

The Martyrs will face a Supermarine team who include former Merthyr and Cardiff City striker Stuart Fleetwood in their line-up. ‘Fleets’ has scored six goals already this season.
The Martyrs will be hungry for a home win after feeling the pain during a 1-0 League defeat at Farnborough FC on Saturday.
Ian Traylor missed a penalty during a hard-fought clash, while Merthyr lost Ben Swallow during the warm-up.
The winger suffered an injury and Kerry Morgan took his place in the starting line-up with player-manager Gavin Williams naming himself among the substitutes in a last gasp move.
Merthyr were also without new signing Eliot Richards, who is starting his second spell at the club.
Richards, from New Tredegar and aged 27, has rejoined the Martyrs from Hereford FC.
The former Bristol Rovers, Exeter City, Tranmere Rovers, Cheltenham, Bath City and Tampa Rowdies player also played for Wales under-21 team.
The 28-year-old made 52 appearances for the Martyrs, scoring 10 goals, in his spell at The MetCoaches Stadium before departing for Hereford FC in 2017.
Since then he has made 29 appearances for the Bulls, scoring four goals.

Merthyr are confident Richards’ international clearance – needed for a move from an English club to Wales – will be cleared in time for Monday’s home fixture against Supermarine.
Connor Cullen scored Farnborough’s winner against Merthyr, netting after 39 minutes.
Merthyr could have equalised after 68 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after a foul on Owain Jones when he followed in from a Lee Lucas shot.
Traylor’s spot-kick was saved by goalkeeper Liam Beach.
