Merthyr Town go to Farnborough aiming to make progress in the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday.

The Martyrs travel to play the Hampshire outfit in a first qualifying round tie with £3,250 prize money for the winners. 

Manager Gavin Williams and his Merthyr players put their bid to maintain a play-offs challenge in the EvoStik Southern League Premier out of their minds to focus on the trophy.

Hosts Farnborough were promoted to the Premier in 2016-17, finishing second in Division One Central and going up via the play-offs.

‘All Together Martyrs FC’ play South Wales Police at Penydarren Park on Sunday (5.30pm).

They defeated Egham Town 4-0 and Barton Rovers 2-0.

While the first team head to Surrey, ‘All Together Martyrs FC’ are preparing for their match against South Wales Police FC at the MetCoaches Stadium (Penydarren Park, 5.30pm).

Pen-y-Dre High School pupil TeeJay Davies has signed for Swansea City’s Academy.

The teenager has been progressing through the Merthyr Town youth development system and the Martyrs tweeted: “A real pleasure to coach and a credit to @PenydrePE & @daidaviesboxer well done TeeJay. 

“Thank you for all your hard work @MerthyrTownFC academy & best of luck @AcademySwansea.”

Lyn Jehu added,

His school tweeted: “Congratulations to this young man from all @PenydrePE @SwansOfficial you have got yourself a lovely young man #Prospect #Baller #FastandFit.”
