Former Premier League midfield player Wayne Brown will play against Merthyr Town when Walton Casuals make the trip to South Wales on Saturday.

Brown, aged 31, is a new signing for Surrey club Casuals who spent eight years at Fulham FC and made his Premier debut against Manchester United during 2009.

He has joined Walton on a month’s loan from Sutton United. He is one of three new players for Casuals, who have also signed 18-year-old goalkeeper Joseph Wright on loan from Millwall.

Wright played against Poole Town, but suffered an injury and 19-year-old Sami Nabbad, a former Wimbledon player who started in a 5-1 defeat against BetVictor Southern Premier leaders Truro City.

Merthyr Town, beaten at Hendon in their last match, are one point ahead of Casuals in the Southern Premier.

Truro City look to stretch their lead at the top when they go to the Skyex Community Stadium to take on in-form Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday.

The hosts have scored 11 goals in their last three matches, including a 5-1 away win at Hartley Wintney.

Second-placed Chesham United are without a game this weekend, while third-placed Tiverton Town could go top if they win at Ladysmead against seventh-placed Farnborough and Truro slip up.

December

Saturday 14 v Walton Casuals (home)

Saturday 21 v Wimborne (away)

Boxing Day, Thursday 26 v Yate Town (home)

January
