As the season closes into the final month were looking to solidify or better their place in the play-offs.

Merthyr’s Ian Traylor caused early problems Met and he met two headers inside the box that Schotterl’s safe hands dealt with.

Merthyr made it hard for the home to play their usual neat football with their physical ability and constant pressure decreasing the amount of chances Police were able to break forward.

The Blues robbed Merthyr of a good chance to break the deadlock after a flick on to Owain Jones put him through on goal, but was denied by a defender.

The game remained goalless even after a mistake at the back by Merthyr gave Mazzone a free shot that was saved superbly by goalkeeper Scott Reed.

Shortly after came an excellent drive and moment of trickery from man of the match Tom Nyama which gave him the chance to feed Mazzone. HIs fierce shot flew beyond the ‘keeper and put blues ahead seconds before the break.

Merthyr tried to find their way back into this tight game with Lee Lucas attempting his chances from outside the blues area, one being a powerful shot that went inches wide of the back post.

The visitors came close to an equaliser after Jones cut inside the box and pulled the ball across goal, but Kerry Morgan failed to turn the ball home.

Met a home win when Blackmore headed home after John Gilbert’s corner.
