Merthyr Town 1, Harrow Borough 1

Gavin Williams has given Merthyr Town a massive boost by committing to his home town club until the end of next season.

Martyrs manager Williams has done an excellent job in difficult financial circumstances and his team remain on the fringes of the EvoStik Southern League play-offs.

They have 10 fixtures left, starting against Dorchester Town at home on Tuesday.

Adam Pepera fired Harrow ahead just after the half hour when his cross/shot flew into the Martyrs’ net.

It was a fortunate goal, but Merthyr hit back and Ian Traylor equalised three minutes after half-time.

Traylor’s goal came after a flowing Merthyr passing move.

Ben Swallow and Lee Lucas both went close for Merthyr, but Harrow clung on for an away point.

The next test for Merthyr Town is against Dorchester at the MetCoaches Community Stadium on Tuesday (7.45PM).

Dorchester have appointed Callum Brooks first team manager.

Brooks, son of former Bournemouth player Shaun Brooks, takes over from Steve Thompson, who was relieved of his duties after Dorchester dropped into the relegation zone.

Merthyr Town: Lewis Webb, Adam Davies, Jarrad Wright, Matthew Harris, Kieran Lewis, Jamie Veale, Owain Jones, Lee Lucas, Ben Swallow, Ryan Prosser, Ian Traylor. Subs: Tom Meechan, Craig Reddy, Kerry Morgan, Jay Foulston, Williams.
