Wrexham are focused on New Year’s Day after their scheduled final game of 2017 was called off.
The Dragons were due to play Gateshead away on Saturday, but the playing surface was frozen.
Now Wrexham take on Barrow at home on Monday and that is the second Vanarama National League match between the clubs in seven days.
They drew 1-1 at Holker Street on Boxing Day and Barrow now go to Wrexham’s Racecourse ground (3pm).
“Barrow at home is a massive match for us,” said defender James Jennings. “But Barrow is massive for us. There be a big crowd.
“We saw what Barrow were like on Boxing Day, but we are on our patch now.
“Since then we have worked on areas on how to exploit them and nullify them, work on ways to try and beat them and start the year off with a win.”
While manager Dean Keates and his players had a day off Barrow suffered a disastrous 2-1 home defeat against bottom club Solihull Moors on Saturday.
Manager Ady Pennock let his players know how he felt after Solihull earned a first away win in two months.
The dressing room door was locked for a long time after the final whistle and captain Asa Hall was sent out for media interviews.
“It was frustrating,” said Hall. “It was a scrappy game from the start, both teams were the same.
“We went a goal ahead and you think ‘happy days’, but then it’s level, then we conceded a penalty and the game is gone. Everyone in the changing room is gutted.
“There were some words. That is the most animated we have seen the gaffer after a game. There are no illusions – we are in a dogfight – and it’s not good enough to go down 2-1 at home.”
said Hall, whose side remain eight points clear of the relegation zone despite the loss, but who could have climbed to 16th with a win.
Wrexham midfielder Akil Wright could return to the side against Barrow and that would be a boost for the North Wales club.
The talented 21-year old, on loan from Fleetwood, has impressed but has been out since November with an ankle injury. With ability beyond his age, Wright has been an asset in the middle and will relish his return.
Wrexham skipper Shaun Pearson went off at Barrow with an eye injury and is being assessed, while Akil Wright should return. Olly Marx remains sidelined after picking up an injury while playing for Rushall Olympic on loan.
