Brian Flynn, Wrexham’s caretaker manager, expects to be in charge when the Dragons travel to play Woking on Saturday.
But he warned club directors ‘it’s important things are resolved pretty quickly’.
Flynn has been in charge for two Vanarama National League fixtures, a 1-0 win against Ebbsfleet and Wrexham’s 3-1 defeat at Solihull Moors, following the departure of manager Bryan Hughes.
“The probability is I will be in charge on Saturday,” said Flynn “This could turn into a drastic situation and if it’s not solved pretty soon then the team will suffer.
“They need guidance, a leader and that’s the most important thing.
“We have two games now every week until the end of October, so it’s important that things are resolved pretty quickly.”
Among the men linked with the Wrexham vacancy by bookies PaddyPower are former boss Dean Keates, Connah’s Quay Nomads manager Andy Morris, former Norwich City defender Ian Culverhouse, Graham Westley, Kevin Nolan and Scott Roscoe, who is The New Saints manager.
“I will be taking training this week,” said Flynn. “This is Wrexham Football Club and whatever they ask me to do, I will do.
“I will do what is expected of me. The new manager comes in, who knows what will happen in terms of staffing levels and what the new manager wants.
“I will be guided by the board and obviously the new manager who comes in.
“I imagine that they are drawing up a plan and that plan will probably be issued to me on Thursday.”
Wrexham face a tough match at promotion-chasing Woking this weekend and badly need a positive result after the 3-1 defeat at Solihull, who led 2-0 at half-time.
Bobby Grant scored his fifth goal of the season to reduce the deficit, but Moors scored again. Wrexham are fifth from bottom after 14 fixtures, outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

“We are still in a difficult position,” said Flynn. “At the moment it is not drastic, but if things don’t change, it can turn into something serious.
“The momentum we had during the second half encourages me going away to Woking and we must pick up at least a point there.”
Jamey Osborne (2) and Jamie Reckord scored Solihull’s goals in a damaging defeat for Wrexham, while their hosts on Saturday crashed 2-1 against 10-man Boreham Wood at home this week.
Former Millwall and Bradford City defender Ian Downson, Woking’s manager, described the goals conceded by his team as ‘scandalous’.
Now Flynn’s Dragons are intent on piling more misery on Surrey club ‘Cards’.
