If Llandudno are going to secure a top-six finish in the JD Welsh Premier League for a second time in three seasons, then they will need to do it the hard way.
Poised well in seventh-spot, Llandudno entertain high-flying Cardiff Met on Wednesday night as they head into their final run of Phase 1 fixtures.
Iwan Williams’ side are tasked with bridging a five-point gap that separates them from the top-half of the table – but each of their remaining games are against teams above them.
After the visit of Cardiff Met, Llandudno face a festive double header against Bangor City before hosting Bala Town and signing off their Phase 1 schedule with what could be a crunch game against top-six contenders Cefn Druids.
A 2-1 defeat to Newtown last week did little to boost their situation.
“It’s been a tough 6 days since losing at Newtown last week, however it’s given us time to digest and reflect on our wrongdoings,” said Iwan Williams, who has now been in charge for five games since being appointed as manager.
“If we are to improve our league position we have to make our ground a fortress moving forward.
“The team are under no illusions as to how difficult it will be as Cardiff Met are a fit, strong and athletic side so we will have to work hard if we are to get something out of the game,” he added.
Cardiff Met themselves have plenty to play for in a season why they have established themselves as one of the WPL’s strongest sides.
The Archers make the long journey to North Wales with a game in hand over Bangor City and Connah’s Quay above them.
A win at the Giant Hospitality Stadium would lift Cardiff Met into third in the table and a strong Christmas period could even leave the Students contemplating a title tilt going into Phase 2.
Llandudno meanwhile need to establish themselves with a run of form that they’re yet to produce this season if they are to feature alongside Cardiff Met in January’s Championship Conference.
