Both fixtures in the JD Welsh Premier League finished with the points being shared on Friday night as Carmarthen Town ended Aberystwyth Town’s winning run, and Cefn Druids fought back to deny Bala Town maximum points.
Top-six hopefuls Aberystwyth found an opening in the 10th-minute when Declan Walker scored his third goal in as many games, heading home Wes Baynes’ cross.
Lee Idzi denied Ashley Ruane before Paolo Mendes clipped the crossbar as Aberystwyth pushed for a second.
A handball early in the second-half saw Liam Thomas reply from the penalty spot for Carmarthen, who end Aberystwyth’s five-game win streak.
“With the run that they’re on, to come up here and get a point is a good result,” said Carmarthen manager Neil Smothers post-match.
“It puts another point on the board against the form team in the league and keeps us going,
“I think overall a point is a fair result.”
Former Bala Town midfielder Jordan Evans struck a blow against his former side, as his classy equaliser secured Cefn Druids a 2-2 draw at The Rock.
A strong opening 20-minute spell saw Bala take a commanding lead as Mike Hayes and Henry Jones fired the Lakesiders in front.
After a disappointing first-half display, Huw Griffiths’ Cefn Druids rallied after the break with James Davies halving the deficit from close range in the 55th-minute.
Jordan Evans, returning to the Druids starting line-up, restored parity with an impressive finish late on to salvage a point for the Ancients.
