Connah’s Quay left it late before securing their place in the Irn-Bru Cup semi-final with a 2-1 win over Queen’s Park at Hampden.
Michael Wilde finished from eight yards in the 84th minute to put the Nomads in front after they had fallen behind midway through the second-half.

Lewis Hawke’s well-executed finish put the Scots ahead despite Connah’s Quay being on the front-foot for much of the game.
Queen’s Park goalkeeper Hart was forced to make a desperate save after spilling a routine cross and was called into action again to deny Ryan Wignall, after the Nomads winger ghosted past three players before firing a low shot towards the bottom corner.
Connah’s Quay equaliser came from an unlikely source on 81 minutes, when central defender George Horan marked his return from a frustrating spell on the sidelines with rare goal. Horan scrambled the ball in after Michael Wilde had headed the ball back against goal.
Three minutes later, Wilde completed the comeback to claim what Andy Morrison felt was a deserved victory.
“It was a great result, a great performance and the right result at the end of the day,” said the Nomads chief. “We keep doing things the hard way – we’re totally dominating games, that’s the fourth game on the trot where the opposition keeper has been Man of the Match.
“It was such a sloppy goal to give away – there was a little feeling of injustice at that point because we’ve had probably 15 corners to their 3, we’ve had 60 percent possession, we’ve had endless shots on goal and opportunities and we’re one nil down but the lads have found a way to turn that around.”
