Max Kilman, Maidenhead United’s 20-year-old defender, kept Wrexham’s play-off hopes alive when he scored for Maidenhead four minutes into injury time.
London-Born Kilman struck with the winner against Wrexham rivals Dover Athletic – and that kept the Dragons in seventh place and still in the play-off places.
Wrexham have two matches left and must win both. They are faced with their final chance and anything less than six points will be disastrous.

Their 2-1 defeat against Dagenham and Redbridge at the Racecourse was a massive blow. They have suffered back-to-back defeats for first time this season and are clinging on to their fading hopes of promotion.
There is no doubt Wrexham have the quality to scrap it out with the best in Vanarama National League football, but they have a lack of mental strength at crucial moments.
Wrexham led at half-time thanks to a Paul Rutherford goal and they seemed to be in control of the game.
But the Daggers equalised early in second half when Fejiri Okenabirhie and a David Raven own goal handed victory to the visitors.
The only positive note on a disastrous afternoon came when news came through that Dover had lost against Maidenhead.
Jack Mackreth was given a rare start and he was lively on the right before he set up Wrexham’s goal.
Wrexham almost doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time when Scott Quigley fired just wide.

Wrexham continued to dominate after the break and a Quigley header appeared to have crossed the line moments after the break, but the officials decided it was not a goal.
Soon after Dagenham were level. Okenabirhie found space on the edge of the box and curled a shot in off the far post, with goalkeeper Chris Dunn motionless.
Wrexham responded well to the setback. They were quickly on the front foot and created a number of opportunities, the best of which came just before the hour mark when Quigley struck a post with a left-footed shot.
The woodwork again denied the Reds when a deflected Shaun Pearson header came off the bar.
Dagenham took the lead against the run of play after 75 minutes. A header deflected off defender Raven and flew in for an own goal.
