A solitary goal from Kayne McLaggon sent Barry Town to the top of the Cymru Premier table yesterday, after they saw off newly promoted Airbus, 1-0, at the Airfield.
McLaggon fired Barry ahead in the 10th minute and that proved to be enough for Gavin Chesterfield’s side to remain unbeaten and move top, two points ahead of The New Saints who face Cardiff Met at Cyncoed on Monday night.
Newtown left it late to end a three-game winless run as George Harry broke the deadlock in the 84th minute to hand the Robins a valuable three points with a 1-0 victory at home to Bala Town.
Caernarfon Town move into the top-six thanks to a last minute winner from Jamie Crowther in a 3-2 win at home to Penybont.
The Cofis wasted no time in getting up and running with Leo Smith netting in only the second minute. That lead would be short-lived with Nathan Wood replying five minutes later.
Penybont were forced to fight back again after Jamie Breese restored Caernarfon lead; this time, Curtis Hudson levelled on the stroke of half-time for the South Wales side.
But Crowther’s eventual winner leaves the Cofis unbeaten in five.
At the Rock, Cefn Druids played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Carmarthen Town with the Old Gold naming full-back Jordan Knott as goalkeeper.
The game sparked into life with three goals inside three first-half minutes.
After Ramirez Howarth had put the Ancient in front, Liam Thomas levelled from the penalty spot before Luke Bowen struck two minutes later to put Carmarthen in the driving seat.
Howarth, making his second start for Cefn Druids, single-handedly wrestled back control of the game for the Ancients, scoring twice in three minutes to complete his hat-trick, giving them a 3-2 advantage.
In-form Bowen was on hand again to force the Ancients to settle for a point, with his third goal in three games.
