Captain Eli King was among the Cardiff City players who stood out during the under-15 South Wales derby against Swansea City.
King is a central midfield player with an eye for a pass who has played at under-18 level for the Bluebirds.
Centre-half Harvey Miles caught the eye for the Swans in a Premier League Under-15 Floodlit Cup match at Cardiff City Stadium.
It was a feisty, tenacious and entertaining derby match which ended goalless.
This under-15 competition is a big part of the Premier League games programme, designed to give players an experience of playing evening matches under floodlights.
Swansea used two goalkeepers over the 90 minutes with Benjamin Alexander starting, while substitute Luc Rees took over midway through the first half.
Alexander made some good early saves before he went off after taking a bang to the head diving bravely at the feet of Siabonga Ligendza. Rees also impressed when he took over in goal.
Swansea were well served by MacAuley Power and centre-forward Joshua Thomas, while Merthyr Tydfil’s Chris Dignadice, a former Bishop Hedley High School pupil, impressed at right-back for Cardiff.
Ryan Kavanagh volleyed just wide after four minutes and then Ligendza went for goal and was denied by an excellent Alexander save.
King’s superb free-kick from 30 yards was stopped by the diving Rees on the half hour, while Swansea also had chances and substitute Aaron Hillier was just off target.
There were three former Cambrian and Clydach players involved in the match. Jack Karadogan played for the Swans, while goalkeeper Leo Satherley and Jack Jenkins were in the Bluebirds squad.
The match attracted a healthy attendance at CCS with free admission.
