Guidolin Rules Out Montero Loan Switch To Middlesbrough

Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin has ruled out Jefferson Montero joining Middlesbrough on loan. The promotion-chasing Championship outfit were keen on the Ecuador flier who has fallen down the pecking order at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin has ruled out Jefferson Montero joining Middlesbrough on loan.

The promotion-chasing Championship outfit were keen on the Ecuador flier who has fallen down the pecking order at the Liberty Stadium.

But Guidolin has no plans to let him switch to the Riverside saying Montero – and striker Bafetimbi Gomis – still figure in his plans.

The Italian, 60, said: “All the players are important and we do not want to lose any.

“I can only choose 11 to start any match but there is always the opportunity for them to impress on the training ground.

“I want all my players here, and I want them to play well.

“They will have a chance to play here so we want them to be at their best for us. This is true of Montero and Gomis.”

Montero, 26, last played in the FA Cup defeat to Oxford last month when he scored his only goal of the season.

He was not even in the squad for last Saturday’s home defeat by Southampton having proved such a hit during his first season in South Wales.

French international Gomis came on as a sub against the Saints but is no longer first-choice following the arrival of Alberto Paloschi from Italy.
