Kenneth Zohore, Cardiff City’s Great Dane centre-forward, has committed to the Championship club until 2020.
Copenhagen-born Zohore, 23, agreed a new contractor before the Bluebirds played Newcastle United at Cardiff City Stadium.
The club confirmed the signing, but added that it is ‘subject to completion of paperwork’.
Zohore has been in outstanding form for City, scoring 13 goals this season.
Manager Neil Warnock was unimpressed with Zohore when he first took charge of the team last October.
“He was strutting around the place and didn’t push himself,” said Warnock, who has worked with the big striker and, on current form, has turned him into the club’s most prolific scorer for six seasons.
He joined Cardiff from Belgian club KV Kortrijk last summer and has had a number of meetings with Warnock to discuss a new deal.
Zohore has committed verbally to a new deal and started against Newcastle, having missed the last match because of sickness.
Cardiff are still in talks with winger Kadeem Harris, whose current contract expires at the end of the campaign.
“I think it’s in his [Harris’] best interests to stay and play for someone who will give him an opportunity,” said Warnock.
“We’ve had discussions, quite healthy ones. The opportunity is there for him to try and establish himself.”
Harris joined Cardiff from Wycombe as an 18-year-old in 2012. He has made 37 appearances in all competitions this season.
Warnock is also keen for winger Junior Hoilett to extend his stay having signed on a free transfer in October.
His contract expires at the end of this, but Warnock is confident he will agree a new deal.
The Bluebirds manager has had talks with Bruno Manga this week about his future, while midfield player Peter Whittingham will make a decision on his future after the final Championship fixture at Huddersfield Town next weekend.
