Ian Traylor took his Merthyr Town goals tally for the season to 24 when he scored at Beaconsfield Town.

The former Hirwaun, Pontypridd Town and Cwmaman Institute striker has netted 180 goals in total during eight seasons with the Martyrs.

‘Traylz’ netted after 42 minutes to put Merthyr ahead and they had high hopes of following their 3-0 win at Gosport last time out with another success.

Traylor’s goal at Holloways Park, Buckinghamshire came when he swivelled on the penalty spot before bending his shot into the corner for an outstanding finish.

Kerry Morgan went close for the Martyrs from a free-kick, while Kieran Lewis cut two dangerous crosses into the Beaconsfield penalty area.

The home team equalised 10 minutes into the second half when Louis Stead scored.

It was a solid performance from the Martyrs, with good chances created and some pacey wide play towards the end of the first half.

A less creative second half from both teams led to a 1-1 draw in Merthyr’s penultimate away game of the season.
