Prestatyn Town manager Neil Gibson is counting on an improved display against Cefn Druids tonight to ease his team’s relegation worries.
Gibson saw his vastly depleted Seasiders crash to their biggest defeat of the season against Aberystwyth on the weekend as the hosts pulled away from the relegation zone.
Seven different players found the net for Aberystwyth with Noah Edwards’ reply early in the second half a mere consolation for a Prestatyn side which was barely recognisable, as suspensions and injuries took their toll on the relegation candidates.
Prestatyn can go back level on points with Aberystywth if they can find a way past sixth-placed Druids and Neil Gibson has urged his team not to dwell on Saturday’s defeat.
“It was a really important game coming into it but I’m really pleased and proud, in a strange way, of the players who have stepped in here. I’m not disappointing in these players, it’s been a tough week or two at the football club in terms of our preparations off the field but we’re determined to get things right on it and we’ll start again on Tuesday,” he said.
“We’ve probably got five players available for Tuesday who weren’t available [against Aberystwyth] so that will obviously add a lot to what we’re capable of doing on Tuesday night.”
The New Saints will be looking to re-establish their four-point lead at the top of the table in the evening’s second rescheduled game.
Saints entertain Connah’s Quay, who can climb into second-place with a win, after the original fixture was postponed.
