Gavin Williams goes head-to-head with the most successful manager in the history of Tiverton Town at their Moorcroft Stadium on Saturday.

Martyrs manager Williams takes his Merthyr Town team to Devon for an Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division fixture against a team nicknamed the Yellows.

Martyn Rogers, who had been in charge of more than 1,000 Tivvy matches when he resigned after almost two decades in  charge during 2010, is now in a second spell at the helm.

The former Tiverton player has been back at the club since 2014 and led them back to the Southern League Premier.

Rogers led Tivvy to three FA Vase finals at Wembley Stadium during the 1990s, winning twice in 1998 and 1999.

He also steered the Yellows to Western League titles, cup wins and several high-profile FA Cup first round appearances.

The Martyrs are just outside the Southern Premier play-off positions after their 1-0 hime win against Basingstoke Town courtesy of a Tom Meechan goal.

Three new signings, Jamie Veale, Jay Foulston and Ben Swallow, all made him debuts for Merthyr.

A win against Tivvy would be a major boost before Williams’ Martyrs return home for their clash with Dorchester Town at the MatCoaches Community Stadium in Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday, February 2.

Merthyr Town, from: Lewis Webb, Jay Foulston, Jarrad Wright, Matthew Harris, Connor Young, Ben Swallow, Jamie Veale, Tom Meechan, Ashley Evans, Lee Lucas, Kieran Lewis Ryan Prosser, Owain Jones, Ian Traylor, Craig Reddy, Adam Davies.
