Newport County goals ace Frank Nouble reckons England hit-man Harry Kane may have out a spell on him.

Nouble, who scored five goals in four games during August and failed to find the net at all last month, joked: “I think Harry Kane has put a spell on me because I didn’t score in September.

“I put pressure on myself to score goals and if I’m not doing it then somebody else has to do it.”

Double will lead County’s attack in their League Two match against Yeovil Town at Rodney Parade on Saturday (3pm).

Kane was unable to find the net in August, but has roared back to form with 14 goals since then.

Nouble was voted League Two player of the month after his exploits over the first month of this season, but came up blank in seven September fixtures.

“Podge [Padraig Amond] has scored a few goals, Mickey [Demetriou] obviously chipped in last week and [Joss] Labadie as well,” said Nouble.

“I’m training hard, working on finishing and hopefully October can be another purple patch for me.

“Six points out of nine from the last three games is decent and we’re still on 18 points.”

Joe Quigley is ruled out of Saturday’s match because he is away on international duty with Ireland under-21s, while and Marlon Jackson misses the match with a hamstring injury.

On loan midfield player Reece Cole has returned to Brentford after suffering a knee injury and is going to have an operation.

Former Yeovil players Ben Tozer and Matty Dolan are both in Newport’s squad.

Former Spurs and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp is helping Yeovil Town manager Darren Way prepare for their clash with Newport.

Yeovil are 17th in League Two, having won only three times in 11 matches, and Redknapp was at Hush Park this week, talking to coaching staff and players.

“I’m fortunate enough that he’s come out and announced that he wants to work with me so it’s fantastic news,” Way told Somerset Live.

“It’s good to have a pair of eyes and ears with that experience. He’s done 1,500 games and is an elite manager.

“I’m 37 years of age, humble and honest enough to know that I don’t know everything. To have Harry’s advice in one of the most ruthless environments in the leadership of professional football, I’d be a fool not to take it.”

The match at Newport is Way’s 100th game in charge of Yeovil. He has won 30, drawn 35 and lost 34.

Flynn, too, has a highly experienced advisor at his side in former Cardiff City manager Lennie Lawrence.

“Harry has a wealth of experience,” said Flynn. “I’m not too sure how much he knows about League Two so it’s going to take him a few weeks to get familiar with the league and the players.

“But he’s a well-known character, a respected manager and I’m sure he’ll be a lot of help to Darren.”

Newport County, probable: Day, Pipe, O’Brien, Demetriou, White, Willmott, Labadie, Tozer, Rigg, Amond, Nouble. Bench: Butler, Dolan, Bennett, Bittner, Reynolds, McCoulsky, Quigley.
