Newport County make a League Two trip to play Lincoln City tonight – and both clubs are planning for a Wembley Stadium visit.
Manager Michael Flynn and his County players have already booked their trip and play Spurs at Wembley in their FA Cup fourth round replay on Wednesday, February 7.
The Exiles have 7,701 tickets available for the match.
Lincoln are within one win of playing at Wembley for the first time after reaching the Checkatrade Trophy semi-final where they take on Chelsea’s under-21 team on Tuesday, February 6.
Reaching Wembley would also realise a career goal for Lincoln manager Danny Cowley, who has been one game away a match at Wembley five times.
“Hopefully it’s sixth time lucky,” says Cowley. “I’m going to keep knocking.
“More importantly, in the 134 years that this club has been alive, it’s never been to Wembley.
“If we could be the group that got the club to Wembley it would be incredible.”
Neither Flynn or Cowley, though, will be thinking about Wembley when they go head-to-head in a League Two fixture at Sincil Bank this evening (Tuesday, 7.45pm).
Cowley was at Rodney Parade to watch Newport’s 1-1 draw against Spurs and says: “They were brilliant against Tottenham.
“They were a credit to League Two and I have to congratulate them.
“Newport have got a real team spirit and a clear playing style.
“We’re going to have to be right at the top of our game to be competitive.”
Cowley could include new signing Lee Frecklington in his team. The midfield player was withdrawn during their CheckaTrade Trophy victory over Peterborough United because of a hamstring injury, but is expected to be fit for the match against Newport.
“It was just precautionary,” said Cowley. “He has a tight hamstring, so we have to be careful with him.”
County go to Sincil Bank for the first time in five years to play an Imps team who have picked up nine points from the last 18 available.
Lincoln, promoted from the National League last season, are 10th in League Two, just behind Newport.
