Graham Barrow has ordered his Dragons to shoot on sight in Saturday’s Vanarama National League match against Maidenhead United at the Racecourse (3pm).
Wrexham have suffered five successive defeats and failed to score a goal in 2019 and manager Barrow says: “It’s old fashioned, but when I played strikers were judged on how many shots they had.
“We need to shoot more.”
Wrexham lost 2-0 against AFC Fylde away in their last match when the home included 19-goal National League top scorer Danny Rowe.

Over the last four years Rowe has scored 131 goals in 79 league appearances for Fylde and Barrow says: “I watched the game back and it was not all doom and gloom.
“We had spells where we played well and controlled the game late on, but we were 2-0 down.
“Danny Rowe must have got 10 shots away in the game with Rob Lainton making five or six saves.
“He finds a way to get shots away and scores goals, although he knows when to lay the ball off as well and we need to find those assets in our team.

“The message is don’t over think it. Go for it and try to score.”
Maidenhead could prove dangerous opposition having earned five away wins in the National League and assistant manager Sam Lock says: “Our away record says play-off places, our home record is bottom three.”
Wrexham striker Jason Oswell has called on Dragons played to forget their start to this year and focus on winning against Maidenhead at the Racecourse.
The fifth-placed Reds are only four points behind League leaders Leyton Orient and Oswell says: “We are at home in front of what will probably be a packed crowd.
“We need to go out there trouble-free and just show what we can do. Everybody knows this group of players has
what it takes to be right up there come the end of the season.
“We can’t affect the last five games and we just need to play freely.
“Sometimes you can overthink things, especially when you are on a run like that, but if you look at the position we are in, four points off the lead, you would have taken this at the start of the season.
“There is no reason why we should be feeling kind of daunted at the moment.
“Personally, I have always been confident and through times of difficulty it’s important to remain positive.
“You hope that class will always come through in the end so I just believe that if you work hard enough then you earn your rewards.”
