Wrexham maintained their challenge for promotion to the Football League, but their 1-0 victory against Hartlepool United was far from comfortable
The difference between the teams was a brilliant 25-yards Luke Young effort which found the net.
The Dragons returned to second place behind leaders Salford on goal difference.
After one minutes silence in memory of those killed at Leicester City was impeccably observed, visitors Hartlepool quickly went on the offensive.
Wrexham broke the deadlock after 21 minutes when Young took possession on halfway. He turned, sprinted forward and unleashed a speculative shot from 25 yards which flew into the net.
Hartlepool were reduced to 10 players after 40 minutes when captain Andrew Davies was shown a straight red after reacting with his head to a challenge by Stuart Beavon following a Wrexham goal-kick.
Beavon, meanwhile, was booked for his part in proceedings.
The second half began with manager Sam Ricketts’ men defending the Kop end. After a quiet opening seven minutes, Wrexham won a corner, and Jake Lawlor was unlucky not to double the lead, his shot flashing across the Hartlepool goal.
The Dragons held on to win and earn another clean sheet, lifting confidence going into Saturday’s home clash with Gateshead.
